Movie Review Monday

I saw a cool one this past Thursday night... V for Vendetta. Definitely worth seeing. Not so much for the way V brutally lays the smack down on the British government (although that was WAYYY cool), but to watch the transformation of Evie's character, played brilliantly by Natalie Portman. She undergoes a character morph through the course of the movie akin to that of Edward Norton's unnamed character in the movie "Fight Club"; sort of a liberation from fear.

There is a bit of a liberalistic message woven into the film that is not so subtle. The tyrannical British government, with it's curfews, quarantines, corruption; with it's laws against free religion, speech, and privacy, is shown as a product of what would happen if the "religious right" were to have their way and completely take over. Homosexuals and Muslims are dubbed as society's "undesireables" and are jailed. They are used for testing chemical agents and otherwise treated as the scum of the earth. The government has completely taken over everything. Granted most of this storytelling is meant to make you hate the evil empire government so you will shake your fist at the screen and go "YEAH" when V comes in and literally puts everyone in their place (which I did), you could tell that an agenda was being pushed. Still, watching V infiltrate the system was cool. Kind of like The Punisher, but cooler.

Cool flick! I was entertained.

Why am I the only one who posts anymore?

Okay, don't you all give me that crap that y'all are too busy or got nothing to say because I call bullshit on all of it. You're all just LAZY! So, to break the ice that has formed over our lovely cyber home, I will say that things are fine here in Florida. I am feeling better and better lately, which I am blissfully happy to report to you all. I had a lot of fun in Tampa, most of it naughty, last week at a conference that I attended and you all know about the incredibly good deal that I got on that house. I am serious guys, the damned thing literally fell into my lap and I am still pinching myself about it. I can't wait to close and move in, even if I won't have enough furniture to fill it out for the next few years or so.

I am finally starting to meet some people--as in women people--too, so that's pretty cool, even if some of them are psychos. I shit y'all not, this one lady in Gainesville starting emailing me partially clad photos of herself after we had had just one lunch date! Yeah, it's crazy but it's also kind of fun. After enduring all the awfulness of the past few years, I finally am beginning to feel like my old self again.

I am jazzed about the cruise with Aunt Dorothy and Uncle Bennie. I think it's a wonderful way to show our appreciation to her for all she's done and also I think it will be a nice way for us to all get together again. We're all getting older with growing families so it's going to be tougher to get to where we can all see each other all that often. It'll be nice to be able to spend this time together. Also, I have decided to bring both Courtney and Megan with me.

Mark, to asnwer the question that you left in the comments of my last post: yes. Hit the link I put there and look at the photos. Yes, the place is nice but I'll freely admit that it doesn't hold a candle to the one you and Natalie are building. Also, that new quote in the banner, where did that come from?

Robbie, thanks for having Court this weekend. It means a lot to me that you do that.

Mikey, great to hear from you earlier this week. Send along friendly kisses to my soon-to-be new sis-in-law, and big passionate kisses to her mom ;)

Jen, I am happy to hear that you all are well and I am doubly happy for Chris and Jenni for their new little baby girl. Obviously, I am partial to little girls and I am so happy to hear that God has blessed Chris with another one. Why don't you post some of the photos you sent me of her? I would have but I don't think I can actually download them from that Kodak slide show you emailed me.

Alright dudes (and dudette) that's enough from me. Coopbro 1 out.

Mi Casa Nueva

More photos can be seen here. Assuming that my credit goes thru, and I don't see any reason why it wouldn't, I should close and move in in about a month. Then NONE of you will have a good excuse not to come visit!

Mark's now the big 3-0

Welcome to your 30's brother. Happy birthday! I will call you this evening.
